Another worthwhile excursion for the whole family is to the Fort Rickey Children's Discovery Zoo, also in Rome, where kids are encouraged to learn about animals in a hands-on atmosphere. From the New York Thruway (I90) Exit 34 (Canastota), take Rt. 13 north 9 miles to village of Sylvan Beach, New York. At stop light in the village turn right on Vienna road go 2.6 miles to Higginsville road. Turn right. TA-GA-SOKE Campgrounds is on the left.
