Description

Camp amid the splendor of Acadia National Park at Smuggler's Den Campground, where the beach, the trails and the woods surround you. Come see what makes this area one of the premier vacation spots in the country. Set up your tent or RV on a lovely shaded site, complete with picnic table and fire ring. Head for a dip in the heated pool, or gather the family for games on the four-acre recreational field. Visit the camp store and pick up some delicious Maine lobster. You can get a quick cooking lesson on the best way to prepare your meal from helpful employees.

Because Acadia National Park has such a diverse geography, you can climb the cliffs, swim in fresh or ocean water, hike, bike and kayak. Park rangers will escort you on a cruise to explain life along the Maine Coast. One of the best ways to see everything is the free Island Explorer buses. They stop right at the office at Smuggler's Den Campground. Enjoy dining as visitors did in the 19th century at the Jordan Pond House Restaurant in the park, renowned for its popovers and gorgeous scenery. Explore some of the many museums, which house collections of native art, whale artifacts and natural history. Tour boats take you out on the water, to search for whales, seals and puffins, or to do a little fishing. Paddle a kayak or canoe out for a closer look around. Walk about the town of Bar Harbor to see both the amazing natural scenery and historic buildings. And if you're looking for a good party, Smuggler's Den Campground knows how to throw one. Oktoberfest weekend at the campground features beer, wine, food, music and a lot of fun. Make your plans now to visit this exciting part of the country.

As always the accommodations were beyond compare!!! Immaculate & all the "comforts of home" (deluxe cottage) whether it was plates, pots, coffee pot, corkscrew (we all forget those at least once!)to the staff always being there for you. We were going to be late arriving & when we called to inform them of same, the answering machine was on(we were concerned we couldn't get into the cabin)I left a message & to our surprise they called us back!!Not only on the number listed on the reservation (home) but, our cell phone!! If you miss going to a lobster pound don't fret, Smuggler's Den has them for sale in the office!!..you can purchase the lobsters & they even have large pots to cook them in!!This is our second stay at Smuggler's Den & I assure you, it won't be the last!!

Great and easy reservation process. Super polite staff, and very helpful. The facilities were clean, and lots of freebies that were greatly appreciated. Decent firewood for sale, not the driest, but all hardwood, and well split. I would definitely come back again!

Great family campground

SMuggler's Den was a great campground for my family. Not too big, and not too small. There was plenty for the kids to do; playground, clean swimming pool. It was close to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park for us to visit and explore every day, but far enough away to have quiet peaceful nights by the campfire. The site were a nice size, you did not feel like you were on top of your neighbor. The facilities were spotless. The staff was so friendly and helpful. We would definitely recommend Smugglers Den to all our friends and would return again on our next trip to Maine.
