Description

Bring your appetite to Skokomish Park at Lake Cushman--for salmon and trout, shellfish and for adventure. The Washington park, near Hoodsport, lies on 41,500 feet of shoreline on the clear blue lake and within miles of some of the most popular features of the magnificent Olympic National Forest and Olympic National Park. Select one of 80 RV or tent sites for your special vacation using the online reservation system. It's safe, secure and ready-to-go when you are.

Encircled by forest, water and mountains, Skokomish Park on Lake Cushman embraces the natural elements. Three boat-launch ramps and easy access to the water result in hours of fun fishing, boating, water skiing, snorkeling and kayaking. Indulge in some shellfish you dig yourself at Hood Canal, the only saltwater fjord in the lower 48 states. The chance to see wolf eels, octopus and other underwater creatures encourages scuba divers to take the plunge. How fast can a shucker shuck oysters? Find out at the annual OysterFest in Shelton, scene of the West Coast Oyster Shucking Championships. If you're in the audience, you can dine on the results.

Chose a trail that fits your fitness level when exploring the Olympic national park and forest. Depending on where you might wander, you'll see anything from tiny flowers to giant trees to mountain vistas. Within the forest, the High Steel Bridge rises 420 feet above the Skokomish River, a remnant of a logging railroad. The towns of Hoodsport, Shelton, Skokomish and Union offer their own unique charms, shops and events. For entertainment, see if the slots are hot for you at the Lucky Dog Casino. After a recent remodeling, the gaming machines are the most fun and up-to-date. Whether you win a jackpot or not, a vacation at Skokomish Park at Lake Cushman is always a win-win situation.

Have camped at both north and south sites for 5 years now. Quiet hours not strictly enforced when we camped in the south site so we moved to north site. Campground clean. Water access great for water sports and for swimming/wading. Will continue to stay in Skokomish Park.

If possible, avoid the parallel RV parking spots. Very, very tight and zero privacy. The pull through sites look much more promising and we willl consider a return trip to Skokomish off season to give the park a second chance. Popular park, lots of people generates lots of garbage which needs to be collected more frequently than 2ce/week. Beautiful location, disappointing vacation.

Wonderful camping in almost every way EXCEPT cleanliness! The dumpsters at the park were beyond overflowing the entire stay. It was absolutely disgusting. I heard another camper complaining about it to the girl at the station and she said they pick up on Tuesdays and Fridays, which makes absolutely zero sense. We came in on Sunday and it was already overflowing which lasted our entire stay. Literally piles of bags on the sides of all dumpsters. I was very worried as the dumpsters were close to my site, about the bears and other critters it would attract. Really not cool.
