Description

Bring your appetite to Skokomish Park at Lake Cushman--for salmon and trout, shellfish and for adventure. The Washington park, near Hoodsport, lies on 41,500 feet of shoreline on the clear blue lake and within miles of some of the most popular features of the magnificent Olympic National Forest and Olympic National Park. Select one of 80 RV or tent sites for your special vacation using the online reservation system. It's safe, secure and ready-to-go when you are.

Encircled by forest, water and mountains, Skokomish Park on Lake Cushman embraces the natural elements. Three boat-launch ramps and easy access to the water result in hours of fun fishing, boating, water skiing, snorkeling and kayaking. Indulge in some shellfish you dig yourself at Hood Canal, the only saltwater fjord in the lower 48 states. The chance to see wolf eels, octopus and other underwater creatures encourages scuba divers to take the plunge. How fast can a shucker shuck oysters? Find out at the annual OysterFest in Shelton, scene of the West Coast Oyster Shucking Championships. If you're in the audience, you can dine on the results.

Chose a trail that fits your fitness level when exploring the Olympic national park and forest. Depending on where you might wander, you'll see anything from tiny flowers to giant trees to mountain vistas. Within the forest, the High Steel Bridge rises 420 feet above the Skokomish River, a remnant of a logging railroad. The towns of Hoodsport, Shelton, Skokomish and Union offer their own unique charms, shops and events. For entertainment, see if the slots are hot for you at the Lucky Dog Casino. After a recent remodeling, the gaming machines are the most fun and up-to-date. Whether you win a jackpot or not, a vacation at Skokomish Park at Lake Cushman is always a win-win situation.

We'll be back

This is the second year we've stayed at Skokomish Park at Lake Cushman, and we hope to be back next year. The sites are well maintained, the kids love the movies at night, and the trails are fun to run or bike around for kids and adults alike. The staff are also very friendly. The only drawback is the beach area gets busy during the day use and space is rather limited. But you just have to be ready for it. Bring lots of water toys - the lake is beautiful for paddling or floating around.

Beautiful forested setting

This is a great park. Highest values for me were the huge psychic space with our camp spot. We were surrounded by beautiful forest and a good distance from any other campers. Beautiful Lake Cushman with the views of the mountains was a huge plus. The information sheet should explain the system for hot showers. The bathrooms need to be updated and the garbage service needs to be daily on weekends.
