Looking Forward To Our Return
100 % of users found this review helpful
We have returned many times to this wonderful RV park. We ejoy that we are in the middle of the forest located on the Yuba River and that we can take a short walk to the historic gold rush town of Sierra City. The park is clean and well maintained. Dale, the gentleman who hosts the park is a real jewel. We have made many long time friends with the campers that come to stay at Sierra Skies. We look forward to our visit each year to this wonderful place. Friendly town, friendly people, and lots to do (hiking (right at the base of the Sierra Buttes), biking, birding, kayaking (just 5 minuted to the Lakes Basin area) and my favorite, star gazing! And oh yes, restaurants if you don't feel like cooking. On Memorial Day the owners of the park put on a great BBQ and invite everyone to join in. We will be there this year for sure.

Home away from home

I started going to this area in 1947 with my parents on vacations at local lake resort. My family spent every summer there well into the 1960's. When I got married (1963)the vacation routine in this area did not stop. My wife and I continued vacations at the lake resort area when chrildren started arriving. Our trips up to this area were from the San Francisco Bay Area which is approximately 200 miles away. Fianally in 1975, we made a major move to Nevada City, CA which is only 60 miles from Sierra City. We still kept our reservation active at the lake resort for a few years until we bought an RV travel trailer and started camping weekends at diffenent camp ground in the lake basin area. We would do this mainly on weekends as we were both working. Well, 20 years ago, we discovered Sierra Skies RV Resort in Sierra City, and we have been putting our travel trailer there for the entire summer ever since. It is a great place to just lay back and relax. There is great fishing in many lakes. Davis lake which is approximately 40 minutes away, has some of the best trout fishing in all of California. Many of the smaller lakes are well stocked through out the summer and makes for great fishing, especially for the kids. The lake basin area has also become very attractive for kayaks which have become very popular a few years ago. There are hundred of hicking trails for all ages and abilities. Mountain biking is very popular and the Downieville Classic in July is a must see event. It starts in Sierra City with a seven mile climb to the Paker Saddle and then ends with a 17 mile decent to Downieville. There are many places to eat from a McDonald budget to the Ritz $$$. As for Sierra Skies RV Park, it is great, reasonable, and located in the center of it all. Try it and I am sure it will become one of your favorate places for vacation. Hope to see you at the Park soon.

We have used Sierra Skies RV Park for over 20 years and have enjoyed the park and the people who have become like family. Fishing, gold panning, and golf are available at nearby locations. The Sierra Buttes Mtns. rise above the little town of Sierra City and are a beautiful site to see. Reno is only an hour and a half away for shopping and entertainment. There are many eating places within a half hour from Sierra City. For a quiet "get-away" and friendly people, I recommend Sierra Ckies RV Park.

Wonderful Park to visit

We've stayed here a number of times. The manager is outgoing and very helpful. The facilities are kept exceptionally clean. The nightly campfires in front of the office are a great time to sit and make new lifelong friends. The potluck's and the poker nights are always entertaining. I would recommend this park to anyone.
