Nice time, good facility

Stayed for a two nights over a weekend. Qick checkin and good directions to the site. Our pop-up trailer fit well as we had a pull through site. Densely wooded sites with decent separation from neighbors. We were a little far from the bathrooms so ask if you need one. I probably could have gotten a site change since the place wasn't full that weekend but I was in a hurry at time of arrival since I had an appointment to keep outside the campground. The pool is very nice, the store sufficiently stocked, and the rec center similar to other campgrounds with several games, game tables, and snacks. We didn't get to try the fishing. We'll come here again since the location is good for us to get a weekend away.

Spending time with my nephew

I started going here back in the beginning of the summer in July. it was very hot and muggy. I had to leave for family concerns, but was able to return with a 2 day complimentary stay because of the genuine and nice people that own and operate Rip van Winkle. I like it becasue it is close to the Thurway with an updated town that has places to shop, eat and drink nearby. The camp grounds are spacious and the Plattekill river is a winding set of trails that lead to decent swimming holes for people and their dogs. I wished I had visited this place back in the 70's when i was younger and lived only minutes away every summer for 20 years!

Good experience

I went camping there with 4 other friends of mine in two tents. We had a very nice time - there were lots of good hikes to do in the area. It was pretty hot that weekend, but the lake was a really nice way to cool off. The bathrooms were also pretty clean and they were good facilities.
