After carefully reading a number of reviews of this RV park, I was certain it would be a great choice. Now that I have stayed there, I am completely mystified how this place received so many glowing reviews! To begin with, out site offered what had to be one of the most unattractive views I have ever experienced. The park doubles as a storage site for the ugliest variety of food service trailers and they were all lined up right in front of our site, blocking a nice view of Lookout Mountain! But the unsightly trailers where just the first of many disappointments. Although it was quite warm and the pool looked clean and ready for use, it wasn't open and when we inquired about it, were told that it might be open "maybe Thursday or Friday"! The cable TV hookup gave us a terrible picture which we thought might have been a problem with our set until we got to the next campground and enjoy a perfect picture there! After a long day of sightseeing, I settled into to do the laundry only to be told that it closed at 7PM!!! News flash, when people are travelling, the only time they have to do the laundry is at night! By far the worst problem was the condition of the bathrooms/showers! Participants in the Wild Cave Tour use the showers to discard their wet muddy clothes and rinse the tons of mud off and all of that is simply left there for the poor unsuspecting camper looking forward to a nice shower after a long day on the road! I really don't have one positive thing to say about this facility and you can be assured if we ever find myself back in Chattanooga in an RV, we will NOT be staying at Raccoon Mountain. We did, however, really enjoy the Cave Tour (not the one with all the mud) and had a great guide! So by all means tour the Cave, but stay someplace else!!!
