We camp several times every year at Ocean Lakes and always have a great experience. One of our favorite activities is cruising the park on our bikes, scoping out the other trailers and RVs, always looking for ideas we can use on our site. Evening stops at Sandy Harbor for ice cream are a special treat, and we enjoy browsing in the camp store. It's convenient to have the RV parts and accessories store on the property, too. It seems we always need some small item. A feature that appeals to us, also, is the advance check-in, so that when we arrive we can drive straight to our site. Ocean Lakes is our favorite destination of all the campgrounds we've visited from Florida to Pennsylvania.

Grand kids first time at beach.

We took our four grand kids to the beach for their first time. They asked if it was like a lake! All of them enjoyed the rides in the golf cart, game room, and the kiddy pool. This place was clean and had a friendly staff all the way around. the beach was very nice and I even made a sand castle with the grand kids. It was nice to have a Wal-Mart across the street. I would go back again.

We are RV'ers and have stayed in summer and fall. We have stayed in 2000 and 3000 section. Personally, we like the 2000 because of the close proximity to beach. Tips for summer visits: If you have small children that like to ride bikes/scooters and play in street then I would encourage you to stay towards the back in the 3000-4000 because there is less traffic. Please do not complain if too busy up in the front sections, this is clearly mentioned on the OL reservation page. If you choose to stay in these sections then it should not be a surprise that golf cart traffic is heavier, that you can hear the fireworks and overall traffic in general is heavier. OL does a great job telling folks this on their website. Tip: Utilization of a golf cart, either your personal cart or a rental is recommended. This is the preferred transportation within OL and quite honestly, the kids (all ages) love the nightly "cruise" along the street next to beach. Tip: If traveling a long way don't bother dragging all that food with you. There is literally a Wal-Mart grocery store right across the street. Don't stress about forgetting something, either the OL store or 1 of the 3 nearby Wal-Marts will have what you need. Also, the OL store is wonderful--their prices are competitive and conveniently located right in the park next to the snack bar that serves amazing ice cream. :) I have written several reviews about OL on tripadvisor with additional helpful tips. Tip: You like to cook your own seafood, then head to Harrelson's Seafood in Murrells Inlet. They will treat you right! Tip: you like to eat at a seafood buffet, then you can hit either of the 3 buffets across the street from OL. We have hit them all and quite honestly we enjoy them equally, especially since they all have unlimited crab legs. We have already booked for summer 2016 but are hoping to get there sooner if we can!

Hi Everyone, my family has spent quiet a few days here at Ocean Lakes. We have always had a good time and the service from the staff has been outstanding, from picking up our trash to keeping the bathhouses clean and quick to resolve any problems that we might encounter. The general store usually has just about anything you may need. We have always found other campers that we could befriend and that just enhanced our visit that much more. Be sure to bring your camera for the "perfect shot" that can say so much more than words. We have found that uptown Myrtle Beach has a little of something for everyone, from the boardwalk, to the giant ferris wheel, and there is always something for the kids to do. We like to visit in the fall, when it is still warm enough for outdoor activities. For the fishermen, the piers are great and there are many charter boats to add to the fun as well. I would highly recommend this campground to friends and family alike. We like to visit Pawley's Island and even make a day trip to Charleston. Be sure to bring a lite sweater or jacket as the evenings can get a little cooler and you don't want to miss any of the action. There are clinics and hospitals close by, just in case of any accidents that may happen (hopefully you won't need them). Over all, this is by far our favorite campground on the strand. We hope you will consider this in making your vacation plans for the future.
