mini vacation

We rented a cabin for four nights. The smell in the bathroom was unbearable.....sewer gas. We thought it was propane and had the guy come check, he said it was from the cabin being closed up for a week and once we had been in there for a little while and had it all opened up it would go away. It stayed smelling the whole time we were there. We all were sick the whole time of being there.
We wanted to go swimming so down we went to the so called beach....we call it the black hole!!! The water was filthy and not fit for a dog to even swim in.
So much for a good time, we will never go back there.
The owners I will say were nice and friendly but that didn't make up for the rotten time we had there.

Camping 2011

This was our second time camping at Kayuta and both times were great. We plan to return very soon. I would have loved to have seen the pool open though, my kids were really looking forward to swimming. They still found lots of things to do though. Thanks for a great time!!

Kayuta Lake is a great family oriented campground! There are lots of fun activities to be enjoyed by all.the best part is that the owners, Mike & Karin organize it all plus join in on the fun, this is teh only place that I know of that the ownes actually take part in the activities. No questios asked my family will return many, many times. We love it there!!

Horrible Mobile Home Stay
0 % of users found this review helpful
My family stayed in the Mobile Home which is 10 feet from the office/store. It was very loud all day and people kept walking through our camp site which was very rude. People were camping too close to each other making it more like busy streets rather than camping. The mobile home was dirty, smelled like an old person's home, and there were only 3 windows that opened. The rest did not have screens or the cranks to open them. It was very hot and stuffy all day and night making it very hard to sleep. The manager forced us to purchase wood from the store which has over-priced items. We were not allowed to find wood in the woods behind the mobile home and burn it so we paid $6 for 4 pieces of very dry wood that lasted no more than 30 mins. The "beach" was down a very steep hill, very small, and had slimmy leaves in it making it unable to swim. The boat docks swayed a lot which made us uncomfortable to walk on. The rented canoe was expensive and dirty. The best part of the weekend was the access to activities for my toddler. The playground wasv free of rocks and garbage. My son loved playing on the swings and the slides. There was a range of different playground "toys" for everyone to play on without waiting. The arcade was also fun. All the games were cheap and lasted for a while. We went up on the "wet and Wild" weekend. Saturday was filled with kid friendly activities that included water ballons, water guns, dunk tank, and a hay wagon. We did not participate because my son is too young but the older kids loved it. It is a great way to get kids moving, having fun, and stay out of trouble (i.e. smoking, drinking, stealing). THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT I WOULD NOT STAY THERE AGAIN. THE PRICE AND THE LACK OF COMFORT IS NOT WORTH IT. KAYUTA LAKE CAMPGROUNDS IS BEST FOR A ONE-DAY ACTIVITY.

Kayuta Lake Campground is very nice for families. There are always lots of fun activities for the kids. My only complaint sometimes the office staff is not friendly to campers during check-in or if you go in to make a purchase. My greatest complaint is that we took our 2-year-old grandson in to the arcade and needed to change a dollar bill. The machine took the dollar but didn't give us the change. My husband went to get the owner, and when she came out, she asked me if I had put any money in the machine because "it worked for her" right in front of other campers. This was humiliating as you can imagine. We have been to Kayuta Lake Campground now 5 times and I would not steal a dollar from them so I could try to win a stuffed animal for my grandson.
