This was our 1st time there it was the 3rd weekend in october and it was EXCELLENT !!! The kids as well as both my husband and myself loved it and the things they had there for the kids to do as well as the adults were OUTSTANDING !!! We couln't of asked for a better time a better place and to be with better people then we were that weekend.
We had such a good time we booked out site for 2012 both for the apple festival and the october weekend. If you are looking for a place to go just to get away go here not only for the campsite but for the activites and sites the fun and the kindness you will get from all the staff.

Will Not Return

This was not my first experience at Granite Hill, but was by far the worst. It is very unfortunate because my family and close friends enjoy getting together the same weekend every year for a great time. We have been staying at Granite Hill off and on for the last 12 years. We have enjoyed seeing our children dress up for the annual Halloween parade and costume contest and go trick or treating through out the campground. They are old enough now to enjoy the fishing and various activities the campground offers but unfortunately we will not be returning next year. The bath house was extremely dirty, run down and infested with insects. There was no hot water for the campers to take showers, not that you would have wanted to. Granite Hill has a noise ordinance that goes into effect at 11 pm to 8 am. Unfortunately, we were camping next to a huge family that put their kids to bed at 8pm, which ruined our time with our family and friends. I would suggest to the management to have a section designated for campers with small children who like it quiet before 11 pm but don't mind their children screaming at 6 am. We found the management staff extremely rude and lacking customer service skills. For this reason alone, we will not return.

expensive snow camping
0 % of users found this review helpful
We camp at Granite Hill on Berger Hill just about every Oct for Halloween. We tell the kids about the Civil War surgery site that we camp on. This year, we were surprised at the cost for a primitive camp site. We get way more for our money at state parks. To make it worse, this year we woke on Saturday morning with our tent collapsed an inch from our heads due to heavy snow. Everything was soaking wet and freezing cold... couldn't even get a fire started. We headed home early and missed the best park of the camping weekend- the parade, trick-or-treat, dance party and the haunted house. I'm sure we'll be back again, but $50 a night, and there isn't even a water pump close by? I'll be investigating other campgrounds for comparison before booking next year.

NO RETURNS

We were there the October 28th & 29th, 2011. We did not cancel although the weather was calling for snow. I read the cancellation policy and can understand that if we would have chosen to leave because of the weather there would be no refund; however, we had to leave because there because there was no electric or water at our site along with the majority of the campground and was advised that it would not be fixed that day. Was only looking for some type of credit to be applied to 2012 season.

Winter and Halloween

Granite Hill strives to provide campers with all kinds of entertainment and they are great at "improvising" when mother nature has other plans. It snowed while we were there and the staff never skipped a beat. We had a great time, even in the cold.

not good

we camped on halloween weekend , first the site they had us in was not big enough and very muddy. I realize they couldn't contro the weather(it snowed) and all activities were cancelled you would think they might give a slight refund but the attitude was oh well. The electricity went out Saturday for a few hours but campers that were leaving because of situation were not given a comp or anything. This had to be the worst camping trip we have been on.

Haunting Weekend
0 % of users found this review helpful
This was our second visit to Granite Hill and it was Halloween weekend. Tent camping is so much fun here. The campsites are spacious and always clean. The restrooms are spotless compared to some other campgrounds we have visited. I must say there were so many fun activities planned for the families and kids, but unfortunately Mother Nature didn't cooperate with us and we had to leave early due to the heavy snow and winds. So we are going to try it again next year. I must say that everyone at Granite Hill is so nice and helpful and very eager to make your camping experience a delightful one.

Snowy Halloween
0 % of users found this review helpful
Not the first time I've visited this campground, but it was the first time I've had my trailer set up in the snow. The campground has always been nice. But I was disappointed when I had to cut my trip a day short due to a power outage in the entire campground. Batteries only last so long when you have to run a furnace during a snow storm. We couldn't chance not having power restored and have our trailer turn into an ice box with 2 toddlers, so we pulled out...as did many, many others with no reimbursement. I would have liked to have seen a voucher for 1 night of camping at least. I guess thats what you get with naturally occuring events. Don't forget to fill your freshwater tank since the water pumps in the campground also stopped working due to the loss of power.

HORRIBLE

We have been camping at Granite Hills for years. We attended the Harley event and it was very over priced and rules by which we paid our fee for were not enforced. No dogs were allowed for this event, so we needed to pay someone to keep our dog. Go figure there were plenty of dogs there and nothing was done. Friends wanted to stay in our camper for one night and were told an unbelievable price. They said no one could visit the campground without paying. Then on Saturday they didnt have enough parking so they opened the campground to the bikers. They used the bathrooms for free walked around the campground, peed behind trees, left trash all over the campground all for no charge, when I paid good money to be unconvinced. Many more things happened but will not go into it. We have tried contacting Granite Hills (since July) to discuss our problems, we have emailed multiple times and no one has responded including the owners.
Our visit on Oct 28-30th was a complete nightmare.again very bad customer service. Friday night into Saturday it snowed. Sitting inside our camper we heard a loud bang, a tree limb fell on our camper and the power lines. No electric, no water we were told no refund of money even though they were not supplying us with service we paid for. Along with Chris the manger saying I hope you have insurance because this isn't our problem. I can not believe they didn't offer some kind of refund or just a free nights camping at some other time. No one from this campground seems to care about anything but the money. This was a safety issue with trees falling all around, no water and no electric not just being inconvienced. All I can say say is it is ashame because I have gone there since I was a kid and we will not being going back. They have lost our business along with our friends business.
