What could be a more perfect locale on a sunny California day than cool, clean Lake Pillsbury in the Mendocino National Forest? Enjoy it in style with friends and family by booking the Fuller Grove Group Campground, which comfortably accommodates up to 50 people. Reservations made through the online system require just a few clicks of the mouse to get you on your way to this Pacific Gas and Electric Co.-operated park. A two-night minimum is required; three nights for holiday weekends.
Fishing, boating and water skiing on the lake, the largest in the forest with 31,000 miles of shoreline, make for a fun-filled day at Fuller Grove Group Campground. Light up the individual and group barbecues for fine outdoor grilling and everyone will find a seat at the picnic tables that seat 50. Two storage units keep food fresh and secure. RVs may park in the paved area. If you have any questions, a friendly campground host is available to assist you.
Mountains and canyons, lakes, rivers and streams are outstanding features of the Mendocino National Forest, three hours north of San Francisco and Sacramento. Visitors come to hike, backpack, boat, fish and hunt, and observe the wildlife, blooming flowers and birds within its 913,306 acres. Fuller Grove Group Campground is open from early April to early September, giving you the best time to sightsee, play and explore.
From Hwy 20 drive north on East Side Potter Valley Road for 5.9 miles to Potter Valley. The road will jog to the left, at Hopper’s Corner Store turn right on to Eel River Road. Continue on Eel River Road and cross the Eel River Bridge, turn right on County Road 240B. Trout Creek Campground will be on your right, if you continue on Road 240 B for 10.8 miles you will arrive at Soda Creek. Turn left at Soda Creek Store and continue 1.2 miles and there will signs for the recreation facilities.
