This is one of my favorite campgrounds for a weekend trip. The cabins are quaint and attractive. Plenty of room for our family of four. Picnic tables and fire pits to gather around after a day of digging for "diamonds". The diamond mines are a short walk from the campground. Everyone will walk away with a treasure or two. Small playarea and picnic tables near the mines. The Amish have made their home in nearby towns. It is a nice drive through the area, and they offer some shops for some of their hand made items. It is a really nice way to spend time with your family. Recomend this campground to anyone who likes to have fun with their kids and see the bautiful country side.

This is our favorite all time campground. The sites are all good sized and the facilities are sparkling clean. Cesily and Evan are fantastic owners who take great care of the grounds and are very knowledgeable when it comes to mining and know the local area very well. There are tons of things to do in the area and we always have a great time. And my wife seems to find one fantastic crystal everytime.

Stay at Crystal Grove

I have stayed at Crystal Grove Campsite several times over the past couple years. The Campground is wooded with a nice stream through it , very relaxing. The cabins are always clean, ceiling fan and owners provide an electric heater in the colder weather. The restrooms are kept clean. The showers are a bit difficult to use, having to hold a pull string down to keep water going. The owners are treat their campers nicely, they do try to make sure everybody enjoys their stay. The campground store is well stocked with items you might need for your campout. There is a good selection of Herkimer Diamonds for purchase as well as many different types of minerals, stones, etc. They even have a nice stock of used books to read. There is a good supply of firewood and each campsite/cabin has a "ring" to make a campfire. I have had some luck finding some very nice Herks in the mines. They can be found sifting in the dirt or walking around the mine and picking them off the ground, epecially after a rain. I have found most of mine breaking and moving rock from the mine wall. It can be alot of work, but I have been rewarded for the work most of the time. Of the 3 Herkimer mines that I know of and stayed at, I have foung that Crystal Grove is the niceset place to camp, and find Crystals. I will be visiting Crystal Grove again this coming summer and despite breaking alot of rock , I will be able to get some relaxation in afterwards. I find it a great place to sit back and unwind, I hope you will too.
