Camping at its best

Cardinal campground is a great campground for people who want to relax, enjoy time with their families and enjoy peace and quiet in a beautiful country setting. This is one of the few campgrounds I have visited that you do not hear any road noise. It is truly quiet at night which is why it is one of our favorites. The sites are large, open or private and shady or sunny, just choose the one you like. The owners are wonderful people who will do anything to make sure your camping experience is enjoyable. They make you feel like a long lost friend or the nice neighbor next door. They even let me borrow their tablecloth when I forgot mine. The cost for a site is very affordable compared to most private campgrounds at $24.00 a night. They offer a small store, firewood and laundry facilities. If you need lots of activities that cost money to keep you happy this campground is not for you. There are not very many scheduled activities, but there is plenty to do: Smores in the pavillion with other campers in front of a beautiful, large fireplace, fishing in the little pond, walking in the woods, horseshoes and a playground and pool for the kids. This campground is a short hop to Keuka, Seneca and Cauyuga lakes for some great wine trails, fishing, swimming and boating. Watkins Glen is nearby where you can go to the races or hike the beautiful gorge. Waneta and Lamoka lakes are even closer. They are connected by a canal so you can travel between both easily. They are not as busy and have calmer waters; nice for canoeing and kayaking. Mini golf is not too far away along with a great ice cream stand. The small town of Campbell is the closest town. It has a gas station, small general store and some antique shops. They also had a community yard sale that was like a town carnival with stands and chicken dinners. Overall, I would recommend this campground for a great camping experience.
