Our fourth "December" trip to Campland on the Bay. It is a resort. In the past three years, we have had everything but compliments about the campground/resort; this year, I would give it a 5 out of 10. The jacuzzis were not heated very well, about 95F, as opposed to 100F or a bit higher. The last two nights was terrible, the nights of the 1st and the 2nd. They figured the "holiday" guests were gone after paying 100 per night. No holiday tent up for the New Year's Eve party, only onto the patio from the snack bar. Yes, they had heater lamps, but only two worked, out of the three provided. No fireworks, which I can live with, but they put a flyer up on the registration door when you arrived announcing they would not have them. The locker room was not heated. The hot water in the locker room was not heated well, and complained about that and the jaccuzi temperature the first night. Finally, after two nights, the locker room water level was increased. Also, we have never had disrespectful campers, but did so on this trip. Quiet time begins at 11pm. A little late when the campers in H18 liked to play their music loud, with games until the 11pm time. Nice speaker system, though, they just need to be in the desert. We do plan on returning, but the management needs to address the maintenance problems.. even though, we paid 100 dollars on the 1st.

Not REAL camping.

If you are looking for a place to relax, enjoy peace and quiet and a bit of the outdoors...this is definitely NOT the place to stay. Camping here is like camping in the Walmart parking lot, only noisier and more intrusive. For the price we paid for a dusty piece of ground to plunk our tent on, I at least expected the picnic table to be cleaned off after the last campers used it. There are lots of amenities here..pool, store, games room, beach, showers (which were clean!)...so if you are looking for a non-private camping experience, where your neighbours are right on top of you, and you love dust...then this could be your dream campsite. I'm sure it's most peoples who are staying here, cause it's full...but I'll take good old bush camping with a tree to pee behind any day.

Mosquitoes

We've been going to Campland On The Bay for 12 years now and and we're always happy and content with the service . Last weekend, we were caught with a big surprise - mosquitoes. The bites were all over our bodies and they were big and swollen. I complained at the office about it and they told me that they can't spray pesticides because the Campland is a wildlife preservation area located next to the Bird Sanctuary. Is this true? How about the campers' health? I'll verify their statement with the State and San Diego County Department of Health because because mosquito bites carry diseases that can kill you.

sucked!!!! my family reserved 2 sites together--g section next to the theatre, it was fine the first day until we returned the same evening to find that the site was infested with ants. ants made thier way into our trailers and started 'living' with us. so everyday we would be squashing them. we called the grounds keepers and they were there in a flash to spread some stuff around our sites but to no avail they were still there throughout our stay. also the facilities were lacking--used condoms were everywhere; shower stalls, garbage cans etc. ants were marching in all the showers stalls. other than that when you were away from the site it was a nice place, security was great and friendly, the kids loved the pools and the hot tubs and the beach but for what we paid for i was expecting this place to be at least pest free and relatively clean. all of my other stays throughout california were no problems.

I along with my wife and 2 of our kids were there Aug 24, 25 and 26. We are from out of town and the stay was very nice (with the exception of the crows in the morning). One thing I did notice is the maintenance crew that was present. They are the reason the park is so clean and upkept. I myself enjoy doing that kind of work and would really be interested in working at Campland By The Bay. I am retired from the government, but would like to know how and where I can apply to work for the maintenance crew there at Campland By The Bay.

This was my Families first time at campland on the bay and we are hooked. We live in San Diego and always went away for our vacation but not anymore. We had a great timr and our 4 yr old met so many new friends. The campers next to us had 3 girls around our sons age and they instantly becaome friends. Thew only bad part was the cafe. Took us over an hour for 3 burgers.. That did not even come close to all the great time we had.So many activties for the kids. We cant wait till next summer. We are planning on a 2 week vacation next time.. Thanks Campland.

We spent three weeks at site O68. Great site, clean, wide and deep. The only problem was with the 50 amp service. Being at the end of the line, our voltage did not meet the requirements of the motor home. We are supposed to have 220 volts and received only 196. Our refrigerator and toaster did not work to capacity. We maintained about 40° for the frig and could not even toast a piece of bread unless it went twice.

We just returned from a 3 day stay at Campland On The Bay and memories were made. I grew up going to Campland and wanted my family to experience it. It is a well maintained campground. It has 2 pools, jacuzzi, laundry facilites, store, restaurant and ice cream parlor and beautiful views of the bay. You can lay on the beach or swim in the pools. While we were there Seaworld had firework displays nightly which were an added bonus for the kids. They offer different activities daily. Bring your bikes skateboards or you can rent them there. The also have a marina which rents paddle boats, jetski, kayacks it's FUN for everyone! I love Campland and will continue to go as often as possible. If you can it's a short ride in the car to Seaworld or Old Town San Diego.

Omgosh!I had a blast at campland this year!I needed this vacation away from work, school,my house and all my other worries.. My family goes about twice a year, I missed last year- but I was able to go this year which was great! I met some really cool people and staff to hang out with. There were so many different activities to do! just to name a few there was Flag football, soccer, capture the flag, volly ball, dodge ball. If you just wanted to take it a little lightly there was bingo, a coloring contest, karaoke and don't forget the arts and crafts! This year I found out that, there was a skate park which was cool! I love the heated pool and the mini beach I like to call it! The weather was great and everyone I came in contact was very nice and the activity staffs made it really fun by involving everyone in the games! I really enjoyed my self and would definity suggest you check this place out especially if you have kids! Can't wait for next year!

We go to campland at least 2 to 3 times a year, we took our 2 sons when they were 7 and 9 they are now 30 and 32 and now their kids love to go to campland, this camp ground has everything there a private beach, they have a band just about every night, they are a DJ and they kids love that, they have a skate park and all kinds of activities there. There is a lot of campers on the summer holidays but even though there is a lot of people there is doesn't seem to much. There is something there for everyone. My 15 year old grandson always has something to do they have a game room, you can bring or rent bikes and ride all over the place. The showers are always hot and the bathrooms are very clean, it's the best place I have found to camp that has something for all ages.
