Stayed Dec 2013, 2014

Stayed at this park in December 2013 and January 2014. Park is clean and well maintained contrary to some of the other reviews. They have nice laundry facilities and bathrooms/showers are in very good condition and newer. There are a lot of regulars staying but this is almost all RV's not permanent set ups. They have security overnight and a gated entry. Very few children though, except visiting grandchildren, mostly retirees. They allow campfires also if you have an above ground fire pit. It is very close to shopping and the best park by far in this area of town from what we observed with some very good new restaurants in the area, close to the airport, shopping, Clearwater and Tampa areas. Main drawbacks that we experienced was it is expensive comparatively to others, the "premium" sites next to the water you don't want as you get the noise just across the narrow canal of the road, they don't let you pick your location, and we tried to stay another month due to getting a new fifth wheel and would have had to move a few times and they wanted to charge us daily rates rather than a month rate. It seems like at times the office personnel believe they are doing you a favor for you staying with them. Other than that it is by far better than any location along route 19 we looked at and the location to be near some very good restaurants (City Fish, Salt Rock, BJ's, PF Chang's, etc.) is a big positive. This is a smaller park and they pack you in tight. Not all units will fit in all spaces. It is wooded though and internet (WIFI)is free with your campsite as well as cable TV on most sites. Maintenance people are CONSTANTLY working on this site to make it nice, trees trimmed, leaves blown and picked up, cutting grass, etc. Two dog parks and a dog shower in both dog parks and it is a friendly dog RV park as most people have a dog here. We had a good stay and would go back but would definitely negotiate our location next time.

Not recommended for families or kids

This is not a place for families with kids under 18. We left after the first night. Management or most other campers do not want kids at this campground. It was obvious to us. The website also oversells the the campground as it was not what was advertised. New Large Dogpark was tiny along with waterfront. Definitely pick another location if you are camping for a week or less and if you have kids.

Our first visit was in 2007. We had a next door neighbor who was a resident. We built a temporary screen between us to block the view of his poorly kept site. At our last visit they were still there. We can back for one week because of no other choice in the Tampa area. As one reviewer stated, too many permanates, unkempt grounds, mean employees, also uncontrolled pets. All the "no see um's" live there and feast on you. No outdoor activities allowed, Since my first visit no money appears to have gone back for more than basic upkeep. There have been no improvements. Cable is out in one area next to the water, higher rate sites, yet you cannot get satilite because of trees. They have a great location, central to many areas, a beautiful location. I returned in 08,and a week in 09 & 10 because of promises of major improvements.None happen. Prices too high for so much discomfort.
