I have been to this campgound many times on and off for 20 + years. Have seen a change in owners a few times. The latest owners, are destroying the great rep this place once had. Do I return year after year? Yes I do but NOT because its a "great place". The only reason why I continue to come here are 2 reasons. #1 my sister and some friends are "seasional tenants" (3/4 of the campground is this way They have been here for 30 + years) I go because of these folks. Being they pay a high rent regardless of how often they are there, they wont pay for a weekend elsewhere to join me where I may be camping at which I understand. So I go where they are.#2 with it being less than a hour drive from the capital district its close for a quick weekend get away if you do not have the vacation time to travel 2 + hrs north. The real neg side of it is trully the owners. They are out to make a buck and thats all they care about, not your expierence. They are rude, insulting, and disrespectfull. They think they are better than you and do not hide it. They have no idea how to be professional, hospitable or provide great guest service. They snap at children when they ask questions like "when is the next hay ride" the store is empty and only open here and there 30 min at a time except for check in, when its open longer so they can collect their money! The campground is clean, and although they "offer many activites"and is in a great area, has the creek for swimming, fishing, tubing, still beware of all the insane rules, and last min changes and cancelation planed events. If you choose to go, you can have a great weekend, if YOU make it a great weekend. One last thing, I agree with the other poster who left a review,Just like her, I too have noticed the park is only 1/2 full when compaired to Broken Wheel a private camp in the area, or NYS campgrounds. That is all owed to the owners. Camp at your own risk and have good reason to go!

So much for vacation

I was recently visiting friends of mine who have multiple sites on this campground. The office staff was rude and in considerate, literally throwing papers in my direction. When it came time to pay, it cost $20 for my daughter and I to stay overnight, stating that we were creating "garbage" and using up their resources, which is untrue since we took out everything we brought in, and our friends pay for their own electricity and plumbing. When I asked to clarify the amount, the woman behind the counter raised her voice at me that they were running a business, and literally grabbed the money from my hands. If it weren't for the fact that my daughter had been looking forward to camping with our friends all week, I would have walked out of there. I was later told by several people that campers have been looking elsewhere due to the management's attitude, and the grounds are empty compared to last year because of that fact. Campers beware!! if you'd like a pleasant experience, do yourselvaes a favor and go elsewhere.
